This recipe is phenomenal for when you feel too weary but still need to make something sweet.

It contains only three ingredients that are available in every household. So, you can easily make those date cookies whenever you need to.

Not only does the crunchy, sugary taste satisfy your sweet tooth, but you can also use various cookie fillings or even make up your own. So, it’s like having a new type of cookie each time!

Equipment

6.8 fl. oz. measuring cup (200 ml) 

Ingredients

Dough:

  • 3 cups self-rising flour ((13¼ oz./ 375 g))
  • 7 oz. margarine with no salt (or butter substitute (200 g))
  • ½ cup boiling water

Filling Suggestions:

  • Date spread with chopped walnuts
  • Nutella with halva strings
  • Chocolate spread
  • Blueberry filling with coconut

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C)
  • Add the flour, ghee, and water to a large bowl
  • Mix all the ingredients and knead till you have a smooth and soft dough
  • Divide the dough into three equal pieces
  • Roll out each part individually into a rectangular shape (on a floured surface)
  • Spread your desired filling along the edge of your rolled-out dough
  • Roll up each part of the dough just like a cinnamon roll
  • Mark slicing slits every two inches along the dough with a sharp knife
  • Bake in the oven for approximately 20 minutes until the cookies are golden
  • Dust with confectioners sugar after removing from the oven
  • Slice the roll along the markings, and store the cookies in an airtight container
