Luckily, our recipe combines superb ingredients with fantastic taste to give you the ultimate sweet snack. With a touch of some crunchy walnuts, those cupcakes are like no other.
That said, what’s amazing about this specific recipe is that you can alter it however you like.
So, if you don’t prefer spelt flour, substitute it with all-purpose flour. Similarly, you can try replacing various ingredients with more likable ones and see how things go.

Usually, you can replace them with water and vegetable oil. However, you should try it with a small amount of batter first if you’d like to do so.

Spelt Flour Cupcakes With Walnuts
Ingredients
- 1 cup spelt flour (replaceable with all-purpose flour)
- 3 tbsp. regular / coconut sugar (better to use coconut sugar for a perfect flavor)
- 3 tbsp. quick oats
- 2 tbsp. fine cocoa powder
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- 1 cup nondairy milk (you can also use regular milk)
- 1 egg
- ¼ cup semisweet chocolate chips
- Roughly crushed walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
- In a large bowl, add the sugar with the egg.
- Mix using a hand mixer or a whisk until evenly combined.
- Add in the nondairy milk and coconut oil.
- Keep mixing until everything is well incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, add the spelt flour, quick oats, baking soda, and cocoa powder.
- Stir the dry ingredients together until equally mixed.
- Add the dry ingredients over the wet ingredients and keep mixing till you end up with a smooth batter.
- Now, fold in the chocolate chips and some of the crushed walnuts.
- Oil some cupcake liners and place them over a parchment-paper-lined baking pan.
- Scoop the batter into the cupcake liners, filling them until ¾ of their height.
- Top them with some more crushed walnuts.
- Bake for about 15 minutes until golden.
- Serve and enjoy.
