Our sauteed mushrooms and onions with ptitim recipe is a flavorful dish that combines the old Israeli couscous with a little modern twist!

Sauteed Mushrooms and Onions With Ptitim
Ingredients
- 3 cups orzo
- 3 tbsp. oil
- 3½ cups boiling water
- 2 large onions (cut into strips)
- 1 tsp. onion soup mix
- Salt
- Black pepper
- 1 package fresh mushrooms (sliced)
- 1 bell pepper (diced)
- 1 garlic clove
Instructions
- Add two tablespoons of oil into a pan and dry the onions until translucent.
- After that, add the orzo, salt, pepper, and onion soup mix, then stir everything together.
- Once all the ingredients are well-combined, add boiling water, lower the heat, and let it simmer for 10–12 minutes.
- As the ingredients are cooking, add a tablespoon of oil to a hot wok and stir-fry the onion strips.
- Then, add the mushrooms, bell pepper, and one crushed garlic clove.
- Season the mixture with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until the mushrooms are soft and tender.
- Finally, add this mixture to the cooked orzo, mix it well, and enjoy!
