Ingredients

For the bourekas:

  • 1 pound of ground meat
  • ½ cup of pine nuts
  • 1 onion cut into strips
  • 2 crushed garlic cloves
  • Soup mix (Chicken consomme soup)
  • Filo pastry sheets (Ready-made)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika
  • Cumin
  • Cinnamon (Optional)

For the mushroom sauce:

  • 1 chopped onion
  • 1-2 crushed garlic cloves
  • ½ tablespoon of flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ teaspoon turmeric
  • ½ tablespoon of silane
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup of water
  • 3 tablespoons of oil

Instructions

For the meat for the Bourekas:

  • Toast the pine nuts until they’re golden and keep them aside for later
  • Grab a medium-sized pan and put it on high heat, then pour some oil.
  • When the oil heats, drop the onions and leave them until they’re fried. Then, add the garlic and pine nuts.
  • Drop the minced meat, breaking it with your spoon to prevent it from clumping in the middle
  • Add all your spices and stir the meat.
  • Let it cook for 20 minutes or until it looks well-cooked but not completely dry
  • Grab the filo sheets and brush them with a thin layer of oil.
  • Using a teaspoon, grab some of the stuffing and place it in the center, then fold the sheets into small triangles.
  • Brush the triangles’ tops with eggs, then sprinkle some sesame seeds.
  • Put your Bourekas in the oven at 375 F. When they’re tan, take them out, and you’re done!

For the Mushroom Sauce:

  • Heat some oil in a large pan over high heat
  • Drop the chopped onion, add some salt, and leave it until the onion is golden
  • Drop your mushrooms and stir them lightly until they’re brown.
  • Add the crushed garlic cloves and stir for 30 seconds or until you smell the garlic
  • Drop the flour and stir for 1–2 minutes.
  • Add all your spices and stir them well, then add some water.
  • Stir again, then add the silane and stir the mixture until it boils.
  • When the sauce thickens, take it off the heat, and you’re done!
