Maamoul Date Cookies

Maamoul date cookies are an absolute joy for your tastebuds. Guess what, they’re really easy to make!
Once you make them using this recipe and your friends try them out, they’ll be clamoring to know how you made them!

Equipment
Disposable 8 oz paper cup
Ingredients
Dough:
- 4 cups flour
- 2 cups semolina
- 2¼ tsp. baking powder (10 g)
- Vanilla extract
- ¼ cup oil
- 3½ sticks butter or margarine (400 g)
- ¾ cup water
Filling:
- 1 lbs. mashed dates (500 g)
- Chopped walnuts
- Cinnamon
- Oil
Instructions
- Place all the dough ingredients together in a bowl and knead them into a dough. Then, place the dough in the fridge for 15-20 minutes.
- After the dough cools, divide it into 70 small balls.
- Now it’s time to mix all the filling ingredients together. As with the dough, divide the mix into 70 balls.
- Roll out the balls of dough until flat and put the filling on each ball. Then, roll the dough back into balls and make little pinches around the edges and at the center.
- Preheat your oven to 350℉ (180℃) and bake until slightly golden.
- After you take the maamoul cookies out of the oven, powder them with confectioners’ sugar.
