What’s better; regular baking or convection baking?

With this recipe, you can use either. However, convection is better for pizza.

What can I make with leftover dough?

You can use the leftover dough to make garlic knots! Just don’t forget to let them rise for a while longer after you’ve molded them into shape.

Should I put the dough on parchment paper directly on the oven rack or use a pan?

Simply place the parchment paper with the dough on the oven rack directly—no pan is needed.

Should dough be placed in the oven together with the sauce and cheese?

Yes, you should place them all together.

Do you think it would work out with whole wheat/spelt flour too?

Definitely! Both choices are excellent for this recipe.

Preparation Time: 1 hour hr 30 minutes mins
Course: Dinner, Lunch, Pastries
Cuisine: Mediterranean

Equipment

Pizza pan
Universal Measuring Cup

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp. dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1¼ cups warm water
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 jar of pre-made pizza sauce
  • 9 oz. mozzarella cheese (250 g)
  • 9 oz. muenster cheese (250 g)
  • 1 handful of sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Start by placing all your dough ingredients (from flour to water on the ingredients list above) in a mixer bowl with a kneading hook.
  • Blend the ingredients together until you have a flexible dough.
  • When the dough comes together, add the salt and continue kneading until it’s completely stretchy and elastic.
  • Sprinkle some flour in a bowl and place the dough in it.
  • After that, sprinkle some more flour on top of the dough and let it rise for 45 minutes—not a minute longer, though!
  • Once the 45 minutes are up, place the dough on a floured surface and use your hand to flatten it into a ½”-thick sheet (1 cm).
  • Then, place the parchment paper directly on the oven rack with the dough on top of it.
  • Add some cheese to the edges, fold them over, and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • Cover the dough’s top with the pizza sauce and your cheese of choice.
  • Brush the edges with olive oil and sprinkle the sesame seeds.
  • Preheat the oven at maximum heat.
  • Finally, insert the oven rack into the lowest slits in the oven, bake until the edges turn slightly golden, and bon appétit!

Tips

  • The resting process is what takes time the most, you can cut down on preparation time if you prepare the dough beforehand and bake when ready to eat.
