Hummus is a healthy source of protein and a staple in several Midderteanean and Arabic dishes.
This homemade garlic hummus is an excellent spread, dip, and side dish to serve for breakfast, lunch, or dinner! It takes only a few minutes to prepare, and the ingredients can’t get any healthier.
this dish is always served with a few pita bread loaves on the side, a spoonful of boiled chickpeas on top, olive oil, and some parsley to tie it all up!

Homemade Garlic Hummus
Ingredients
- 2 cups frozen chickpeas
- ¾ cup raw tahini
- 1 cup cold water
- ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
- ½ tsp. cumin
- 2 garlic cloves
- ¾ tsp. salt
Instructions
- Boil the chickpeas until soft and tender.
- Strain them and put them in the food processor.
- Add the rest of the ingredients except for the raw tahini and start processing.
- Now gradually add the raw tahini as and keep processing until smooth.
- If your hummus isn’t smooth, add one-quarter cup of water.
- Place on a plate, top it with boiled chickpeas and drizzle some olive oil on it.
Tips
- You can serve your hummus with hot sauce, diced hard-boiled eggs, or sauteed mushrooms and onions.
