Don’t get us wrong, though. We’re not complaining. Cinnamon rolls are a total hit, and the attention is well-deserved.
But here’s the thing:
Mixing brown sugar and cinnamon isn’t the only way to make a heavenly filling.
Sometimes, we underestimate the power of the good ol’ chocolate spread. But not this time.
This time, we’ll appreciate (and devour) some chocolate sweet rolls down to the last slice!

Can I replace the Nutella with a different spread?

Glazed Chocolate Sweet Rolls
Ingredients
Dough:
- 1 lbs. all-purpose flour (½ kg)
- 1 tbsp. dry yeast
- ¾ cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 7 oz. sour cream 9% (200 g)
- 1 stick butter (soft (100 g))
- ¼ cup water or milk (240 ml)
Filling:
- Nutella spread
Glaze:
- ½ cup water
- ½ cup sugar
Instructions
- Mix the dough ingredients and knead until you form a soft, smooth ball.
- Let the dough rise for 90 minutes.
- Split the dough into three equal portions.
- Flour your surface and roll out each portion into a thin sheet.
- Scoop and spread out a generous amount of Nutella onto the sheets.
- Roll up the dough and cut it into swirls.
- Pop the swirls into the oven and bake at 350°F (180°C) for 25 minutes.
- As the dough bakes, boil half a cup of water with sugar to make the glaze.
- Brush the swirls with the sugary glaze as soon as you take them out of the oven.
Tips
- It’s okay to bake these rolls with convection.
- Next time you make the rolls, try using salted caramel drizzle or vanilla icing instead of the classic glaze!
