- 5 large eggs
- 1½ cups sugar
- 1 cup canola oil
- 1 cup hot water
- 3 cups cornstarch (optional: replace with 2 cups flour + 1½ cups oil)
- 1 cup chocolate-milk mix
- 1 cup cocoa powder
- 2¼ tsp. baking powder (10 g)
- ½ tsp. baking soda
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Grab a large bowl and add cornstarch, cocoa powder, chocolate milk mix, and baking powder. Mix them all well.
- Grab a separate bowl, crack the eggs inside it, then beat them well. When the eggs are beaten, gradually add sugar while beating some more. Then, keep beating the mixture for three more minutes.
- Add the oil and keep beating. In the end, the mixture should be foamy and slightly puffy, but not too stiff.
- Go back to the bowl with the dry ingredients, and add water. Then, beat it well using an electric mixer.
- Add the egg foamy mixture, then blend all ingredients together using a rubber spatula. When all ingredients are combined and no longer visible, start heating the oven.
- Pour the cake mixture into an oiled aluminum pan.
- Heat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Then, put the pan inside for 30–40 minutes.
- It might need more time. To test this, poke a toothpick into the cake. If it comes out dry, the cake is ready. If it comes out moist, the cake needs some time.
