Chocolate Chip Sponge Cake Recipe

- 4 large eggs (unseparated)
- ¾ cup sugar
- 1½ tbsp. vanilla sugar (20 g)
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tsp. orange zest
- 3 cups self-rising flour
- 2 cups chocolate chips
Instructions
- Get a bowl and beat four unseparated eggs in it until they form a slightly puffy foam.
- Mix on low speed while gradually adding vanilla sugar, orange zest, sugar, and heavy cream. Keep mixing until fully combined.
- In another bowl, place three cups of self-rising flour. Remove two tablespoons of the flour into a different bowl.
- Mix two cups of chocolate chips well with the two tablespoons of flour. The flour should completely cover the chocolate chips. The goal is to prevent the chocolate chips from sinking to the bottom of the pan when baking.
- Next, add the flour to the batter and mix them gently until they combine.
- Mix the chocolate chips into the batter using folding motions. Keep doing this until they’re evenly combined.
- Prepare your cake pan either by brushing melted butter on it or applying cooking spray.
- Bake the cake at 340℉ (170℃) until you can poke the center with a toothpick and it comes out clean.
