Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 2¼ tsp. baking powder (10 g)
- 1½ tbsp. vanilla sugar (20 g)
- ½ cup oil
- 1 stick butter/butter substitute (soft (100 g))
- ½ cup water
Filling:
- Apple filling (2 jars premade filling, or make your own)
- Raisins or walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C)
- Place the flour, baking powder, and vanilla sugar together in a food processor or a mixer
- Install the flat beater attachment
- Add the oil and butter
- Turn on the mixer until you have a crumbly dough
- Add the water and knead for about ten seconds until combined
- Place the dough over a piece of plastic wrap
- Form a disc and wrap it tightly
- Put the dough in the fridge to cool for a minimum of one hour (preferably overnight)
- Take the dough out and cut ¼ of it to keep aside
- Roll out the remaining dough over a flat surface (lightly dusted with flour)
- Transfer it onto an oiled pie pan covering the bottom and sides
- Trim the edges of the dough, leaving about one-inch overhang
- Bake it for 15 minutes
- Remove the dough from the oven and pour the apple filling inside
- Add the raisins and walnuts (if you like)
- Use a grater to grate the rest of the dough over the filling
- Place the pie pan back into the oven and bake for another 40 minutes or until golden
